Winter 2017 Fashion Trends

How do you make the gloom of winter take on a brighter note in an inexpensive and practical way? With winter accessories is how! Using colourful and fun accessories like scarves, hats, and coloured boots, you will be able to enjoy the colder climate with style and I have no doubt they will come with a double helping of compliments!

If you caught my recent Facebook LIVE event in June, I showed you how to tie scarves in multiple ways to ensure you have the best style for your body shape. If you didn’t manage to see it head over to the Johnsonville Shopping Centre Facebook page and check it and other winter styling tips out.

If you have a standard black winter cool coat, think how a fashionable scarf in a colour that brings out your eyes and encircles your face will help with the draining effect black can have on many people. Think about how bulky it needs to be for your body shape, and by all means go bright and patterned. Some of my favourites this season are from MAX, who have a fab on-trend cashmere check scarf and a beautiful deep copper basket weave scarf that gives wonderful added texture and colour to your outfits.

Animal print remains an on-trend pattern and Pagani’s new season scarf collection features this print. They also have heaps of snoods, knitted & pashmina style scarves plus one of my favs, a faux fur stole to throw on over an evening dress or again around your coat. If you are looking for the full colour & pattern combo, head to Jacqui-E are there are heaps on offer here with varying thicknesses and textures.

Hats are great but many people are scared of them. If you have a smaller round head, then look for something with a peak. The peak balances out the 'roundness' of the head and these look very stylish while keeping your head lovely and warm. I spotted some quilted caps in Just Jeans that might just do the trick. Those with more of a pronounced chin and a larger head can wear beanies, which look fabulous & help keep you warm during a biting southerly wind! Max has a number of beanies this season and I’ve seen many around that have the traditional pom poms on them.

Another addition to the wardrobe of 'fun' can be a coloured pair of ankle boots. Many people have a good base colour like black or brown, but maybe it's time to invest in another coloured pair? I see grey is very wearable and interesting as is a dark navy blue, some darker reds and some softer blush pinks, all at Hannahs at Johnsonville Shopping centre.

We need to be able to enjoy winter, as it’s a great time for layering up on lots of lovely items. This season's goal is to try and add a little colour into your winter accessories and enjoy the effect it has on your mood and everyone else's!
