LOVING THOSE WINTER COATS

The one season trend I’m absolutely loving this Winter, and as a personal stylist I’m a big advocate of, is the coloured winter coat. If it’s time for you to update your winter coat, you’re very lucky to have such a brilliant selection this season.

Why a coloured coat you ask? Shouldn’t I just buy black so that it goes with everything? Well, what are you trying to match with when your clothing is covered by the coat? I like the idea of making that wonderful colourful first impression when you enter a room, café, shopping mall or workplace. Colour implies confidence, that’s a fact.

Those who wear coloured coats through our dark, wet and cold winters say people on the street smile at them!

The wonderful options this season span a full range of brighter options for those that enjoy the spotlight and also more muted, but equally lovely, darker or more subtle colours.

Max has a number of beauties. I particularly like the gorgeous coloured teal blue, magnificent dark forest green, or the very ‘on-trend’ darker berry colour with a super flattering cut.  If you want something a bit brighter, check out the pea coat from Jacqui E, this is a great length for those of you who like something a little shorter, maybe because you are too!

If wool coats are not your cup of tea, then how about a coloured biker jacket from Just Jeans? I just adore the quilted biker jacket in plum or how about the soft collar more classic cut in a rich lighter brown cognac? Leather trends each and every winter season so you need not worry it won’t be current each year.

Now if you do really want to stay classic and buy a black coat, never fear, all these stores have black coat options too. But maybe add a coloured scarf to keep out the chill and provide the flattering pop of colour instead? I do really love the black fur collared option from Pagani as it provides that fabulous mix of coat & fake fur. A great combination. Wild South has another example of this combo, a caramel coloured jacket with removable faux fur around the hood and a removable quilted inner vest for warmth! Perfect for stormy Wellington days.

Johnsonville Shopping Centre has you all wrapped up for winter this season with a fabulous selection of longer, shorter, coloured, black, fur trimmed, leather or classic wool winter coats.  Because they can be a reasonable investment, my advise is to try them all before making your final decision.  You never know, you may surprise yourself with your final choice.
