Style Tips For Busy Mums

Mums deserve to look good and feel good too.  But in an effort to get the kids fed, clean, and to school or playgroup on time, our own needs often take a back seat. Being a busy mum and juggling the needs of the household can mean we throw on ‘whatever’ to head out the door. A piled, slightly stretched T-shirt, the track pants with paint on them and the old shoes spotted as we head out. If this sounds familiar, then help is here. It’s time to think about you.

Reclaiming your personal style is not about wearing fancy, impractical or expensive clothing. It’s about getting the basics right, enjoying colour and taking the time to make sure everything fits well. Let’s go back to my age old mantra of COLOUR, SHAPE, and FIT.

Take the humble T-shirt. Colour – so simple, yet many people choose black or white because it’s ‘safe’. The right coloured T-shirt looks amazing.  It makes your skin glow, your eyes stand out and your hair looks glossy. Shape – do you suit a higher neckline or a lower neckline? This may have changed since you’ve had children, but both options are usually available in the shops.  Decide what’s best for you and stick to it. Fit -allow for that shrinkage factor and get the right length.  Make sure it shows you have a waist, is not too big and baggy, or too small.

If you want to step up your styling, places like MAX, Jacqui E and Pagani have plenty of tops which are colourful, comfortable, and stylish. They might be floaty or fitted but in the right size and teamed with a simple skirt or pair of trousers, they look great.

With autumn here, you’ll find excellent jeans in different shapes and sizes to fit YOUR shape. Don’t worry about what’s ‘on-trend’. If you don’t feel comfortable in skinny jeans, then what about a slim bootcut or boyfriend pair? Straight jeans suit most body shapes and are a modern and easy option.

If you have dresses and skirts in your wardrobe for ‘going out’, think again. Make the most of them by pairing them with a denim jacket and flat coloured ballet shoes. You’ll create an outfit that’s casual but smart, taking you from the morning drop off, to coffee with friends and on to the mall for some shopping. Pagani always have pretty dresses in store and when they’re worn with simple accessories they look comfortable, modern & pretty.

The most important thing to remember is that you deserve to feel good leaving the house. It doesn’t matter where you are heading, looking good and feeling good go hand in hand.

So start the day as you mean to go on with a stylish spring in your step.
